Do you have a story to tell? Do you love writing? Do you feel excited about putting words down and having them mean something? Does seeing your name at the top of a page of great writing full of terrific ideas thrill you? Would you like to be able to write better and learn from the best?
Yes? Then you’re in luck because WestWords and WestLit Libraries are offering free 90-minute creative writing workshops at Wollondilly Library as part of the 2024 Living Stories Western Sydney Writing Prize.
These workshops are intended to help writers gain confidence and skills in their creative writing, especially with a large writing prize just around the corner.
Ages 10 to 15: Thursday 18 April
2pm - 3.30pm

Ages 16+ and Adults: Thursday 18 April
4pm - 5.30pm
The View Room, Wollondilly Library
Please bring a pen and paper and/or your preferred writing device.
Numbers for these free workshops are very limited, so book early.
Please note that in the workshops for young people, the content is customised to specific age groups. Please don’t book for a different age group without first consulting with us.
Meet your Presenters
Helena Fox - Presenting Session for ages 10 to 15
Helena Fox is an author, poet and writing mentor living on Dharawal Country, in Wollongong, Australia. Her debut novel, How it Feels to Float, won the Prime Minister's Literary Award and Victorian Premier's Literary Award for Writing for Young Adults in 2020. Her latest publication is The Quiet and the Loud.
Brittany Searle - Presenting Session for Adults and Ages 16+
Brittany is a writer and English teacher from Campbelltown and one of the 2021 recipients of the West Words Emerging Writers Fellowship. Having worked as a journalist, Brittany believes that being from Western Sydney gives writers a unique perspective on life and storytelling.
A passionate advocate for Western Sydney voices, she is currently working on a project telling the story of her life in Western Sydney, mental health and becoming a mother.
