Wollondilly Scenes is a follow-up book to the acclaimed Wollondilly in Focus and the third book to be published by local resident James Whitfield.
James Whitfield was born in Picton in 1942 and has lived in Tahmoor since 1943. He tells of his love of nature and photography among his many interests.
Wollondilly Scenes is a pictorial coverage of the towns that make up the Wollondilly Shire and contains 210 pages, 17,000 words and some 570 photographs. The photographs are predominately colour and taken by the author and all are with descriptive captions and dates.
When asked why this new book has been written James said, "Like Wollondilly in Focus, it is to showcase in images some of the beauty of Wollondilly, to promote tourism to the Shire, to share my photographs and to perhaps bring some pleasure to those who are unable to travel across the vast shire. As an extra interest in this book is the inclusion of some of the many bus stops/shelters that are scattered across the area."
James' other book, Picton to Mittagong Main Line Railway Centenary 1919-2019, was the only publication for the historic event of the mainline railway centenary through Wollondilly.
