Join Southern Highlands-based author Sarah Hawthorn in conversation as she discusses her latest book, High Land, a gripping thriller filled with secrets, danger and unexpected twists.
When the parachutes fail to deploy during Annie’s first-ever tandem skydive, her instructor is killed in the heroic act of saving her. Hailed ‘Miracle Girl’, Annie’s death-defying fall becomes news around the world, setting off a chain of mysterious and deadly events, with origins going back twenty years. About the Author
Born and raised in the UK, Sarah Hawthorn lived in Toronto, Dallas and New York before emigrating to Sydney, Australia. After career moves from actor to journalist and then publicist, she relocated to the village of Bundanoon in NSW’s beautiful Southern Highlands to pursue her dream of being a full-time novelist. When not writing, Sarah enjoys theatre, cooking and walking her dog. Her debut psychological thriller A Voice in the Night was published by Transit Lounge in 2021 and subsequently by Open Road Media in North America. It is optioned for film by Staple Films, Australia.
Sarah has two other novels published internationally: Love Camera Action and The Dilemma.

After several weeks in hospital, Annie regains consciousness from a coma, but at first doesn’t recognise her parents and is uncertain of her own identity. To convalesce, Annie’s protective parents take her to their fortress-like home, deep in Australia’s Southern Highlands. Here, after stumbling across a secret stash of information that doesn’t add up, she also becomes convinced someone wishes her harm. These chilling clues point to finding answers in Europe. Unaware of her newfound celebrity, Annie escapes to London, the Highlands of Scotland and former Soviet bloc countries. Danger follows her as the truth unravels.
