Do you have a project you’d like to sew? Maybe you’re looking for a new hobby and would like to try your hand at sewing before purchasing a machine, or are feeling inspired to start some DIY projects or fix a ripped seam.

Borrowing our sewing machine to use at the Library is a great option if you don’t want to purchase something only occasionally needed, if you don’t have space at home, or if you’d like to try before you buy. This shared resource will help reduce waste in our local community, and can help with cost of living pressures.

To borrow, book one of our meeting and study spaces, and write in the note section that you would like to use the sewing machine. Present your Library card to one of our team members at Wollondilly Library, Picton to secure your room booking, and request the machine. 

The Library will supply:

  • Janome DC2030 machine
  • User manual
  • Everything listed on the included Sewing Machine Inventory
  • 8 different feet
  • Thread (multiple colours)

Bring your own materials and take home something wonderful you’ve created! Bookings are essential, so make sure to book sewing time at the Library to get your project started.

Please note:

  • You must book one of our two meeting rooms to sew in. The Susan Keohane Local History Room, or the Gail Dunn Room
  • A waiver must be completed before the first time you use the sewing machine
  • Please bring the supplies you need for your project
  • Staff will not be available to teach you how to sew
  • Age restrictions apply:
    • Children under 12 years cannot use the sewing machine
    • Children aged 12 – 15 years require adult supervision
  • This machine is only available for use at Wollondilly Library, Picton. It may only be taken off-site by organisations with an institutional membership. Ask us if you have any questions.
